Janet Walker was Director of Finance and Business Affairs at Channel Four from 1998 to 2003. From 1988 to 1994 she had also been Deputy Director of Finance and Corporation Secretary.

Between her spells at Channel Four she was Financial Controller, Regional Broadcasting at the BBC and Director of Finance at Granada Media Group. Janet is currently Commercial and Finance Director at Ascot Racecourse.

Janet chairs the Audit Committee and sits on the Remuneration Committee.

Janet Walker chairs the Design Council's Audit Committee. This committee aims to foster good control and scrutinises issues concerning risk, governance and any systems and processes that influence the effectiveness of the Design Council.

Janet is also a member of the Remuneration Committee. This committee reviews general terms and conditions of employment and specific salary matters in relation to the Design Council Chief Executive, Directors and any staff with a salary in excess of £70,000.
