Digital Marketing Specialist

We are looking for a specialist in digital and online marketing to join our Marketing and Communications team.

Job Purpose

Develop and implement the digital element of the marketing and communications strategy for the Design Council

Responsibilities

  • Raise awareness of the Design Council and its projects through the website and other online channels
  • Manage the development and delivery of all online communications, ensuring the integrity of the Design Council brand is paramount and application is consistent
  • Work with website team to develop content and technical functionality to enable effective marketing and to implement approaches to drive traffic to the Design Council website
  • Identify and develop opportunities for content syndication to partners and end-users through podcasts, blogging and RSS
  • Utilise social media platforms to engage new users and increase user-generated marketing
  • Work with the Web Editorial Marketing and Communications teams to identify and develop online marketing and PR opportunities
  • Develop, programme and analyse broad-base and targeted email campaigns including the regular Design Council ebulletin and other approaches, using the etelligent email marketing software
  • Create and retain website users through targeted communications and advocacy programmes
  • Work with external suppliers (such as online creative and digital media planning agencies) ensuring the Design Council benefits from the provision of timely, appropriate and cost effective project communications
  • Develop digital marketing approaches to support and enhance the promotion of Design Council programmes and projects
  • Monitor the performance of digital marketing campaigns, using the data to inform subsequent recommendations and actions
  • Be the digital marketing champion of the Design Council and seek to integrate the use and benefits of digital marketing and communications in marketing activity

Technical Skills and Qualifications

Essential

  • Experience/knowledge of technical aspects of the online communications environment
  • Experience of targeting, monitoring and reporting on digital campaigns
  • Budget management
  • Ability to design and send HTML emails
  • Experience/knowledge of search engine optimisation and content publishing best practice
  • Experience/knowledge of increasing brand visibility through social media platforms (e.g. Facebook, YouTube, social bookmarking)
  • Experience/knowledge of implementing and tracking content syndication channels
  • Strong project planning, management and control
  • Experience/knowledge of website and email coding using (X)HTML and CSS

Desirable

  • Good writing and presentation skills
  • Experience/knowledge of Content Management Systems
  • Experience/knowledge of Customer Relationship Management software and data integration
  • Experience/knowledge of website and digital campaign analytics software
  • Experience/knowledge of online usability and accessibility
  • Understanding of integrated communications
  • Experience/knowledge of the monitoring and reporting of online PR and audience sentiment

Knowledge and Experience

Essential

  • Experience in similar role or in account manager/producer role for digital communications agency
  • Previous project management experience
  • Able to translate corporate marketing strategy into effective online communications
  • Experience consulting on website functional development and content strategies to enhance marketing
  • First hand experience of online social media, syndication technologies, rich media and other ‘Web 2.0’ channels

Desirable

  • Experience or interest in design
  • Understanding of business, designer or education audiences
