BERR (Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform)

Location:

UK-wide

Formerly known as the DTI, the Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform (BERR) is the voice for business in Government. It is responsible for economic development and UK competitiveness, and for strengthening the economic performance of all the regions.

BERR also helps people and companies become more productive by promoting enterprise, innovation and creativity. It encourages business start-ups, including small and medium-sized enterprises, with practical support through the Busines Link network. This includes help and advice on best practice, training and employment law and new technology.

Berr also helps British firms to export their products to overseas markets. Government support may be available via R&D tax credits and other R&D products for design activities to overcome scientific and technological problems in developing or improving a new product, process or service. Information on R&D and government support for companies embarking on R&D projects can be found on the BERR R&D webpage.
