European Design Innovation Platform launches

European Design Innovation Platform launches

25 March 2014

Today in Brussels the European Commission launched the European Design Innovation Platform (EDIP). This project led by the Design Council aims to increase the use of design for innovation and growth across Europe and is co-financed by the European Commission.

The launch event brought together key stakeholders to share plans and ideas for the EDIP. These include:

1. A website that will bring together knowledge and examples of design for innovation, from across the EU, in the public and private sector. A destination for anyone interested in finding out the latest tools and techniques for applying design and making connections.

2. A programme of events for European business people, public service managers, and policymakers to increase their awareness of design’s role in innovation and growth, and inspire investment.

3. Sharing the power of design with European industry through a consortium of 14 EU-wide partner organisations including Nesta, Estonian Design Centre, The Danish Design Centre and KEPA. Countries that currently lag behind with design-driven innovation will be equipped with the knowledge, tools, confidence and capacity to catch up by being included in the project.

We welcome organisations and networks interested in advancing design-driven innovation to get in touch to discuss how they can contribute to the EDIP. The Design Council were selected in November 2013 to lead a consortium that will deliver the project over three years.
