Call for entries launched for our Ones to Watch award
Today, we’ve launched a national call for entries for Design Council’s Ones to Watch – our search for 70 great designers of the future to showcase as part of our 70th anniversary celebrations.
For us, turning 70 isn’t about looking back at our history, it’s about looking forward to the next 70 years and what they will mean for design. That starts with emerging talent. We hope that this selection of the UK’s visionary new designers will highlight what’s next for design in the UK and beyond.
We’re casting the net far and wide – inviting emerging designers from any level, any discipline, and any background to apply. We’re looking for work that shows bags of innovation, ambition, vision, and that has the potential to help build the UK's reputation as a world leader in design.
The entry process is quick and easy and the deadline for entries is 1 October 2014. A panel of design experts will select our 70 Ones to Watch which will be announced in November.
We’ll also be out and about proactively searching and scouting for Ones to Watch. Over the next few months we’re going to be at shows, awards, clubs and other creative hot-spots encouraging entries online and hand-picking a few stand out designers to automatically go through to the final 70.
The winners will receive a Design Council Ones to Watch endorsement in the form of a swing-tag and digital stamp to attach to their portfolios, as well as a place in our digital showcase later in the year.
