Our response to the government's new Planning Practice Guidance
Today’s launch of the government’s new National Planning Practice Guidance (NPPG) is a critical step forward in supporting all participants involved in planning to deliver better quality developments.
Having played an active role in strengthening the guidance we are pleased to see that the government have taken the sector’s comments on board. Whilst the new online guidance should be applauded, it is critical that the guidance is updated as and when necessary. For example, when the government responds to the Housing Standards Review.
We urge this to happen sooner rather than later to ensure that house builders are given sufficient support to deliver the homes that the UK needs, of the right quality, in the right places at the right time.
In light of the publication of the new NPPG, we will be conducting a review of existing best practice guidance in order to identify where updates or additions are needed to offer the necessary support.
