Video: Design Council presents Design in the Public Sector
The Local Government Association (LGA) and Design Council have worked in partnership for three years to support more than 30 local authorities and 150 individuals to tackle a range of service challenges. Their shared vision is to grow the public sector’s capacity to deliver efficient and effective public services, which improve people’s lives.
“As an advisor to government we have worked within the public sector for over 70 years and in the last 10 years we have been working more intensively with local authorities to help them use design as a process for change,” says Ellie Runcie, Director Growth and Innovation at the Design Council.
“The LGA is the national voice for local governments, we exist to promote, improve and support councils across the country,” explains Rhian Gladman, Programme Manager, Commercialisation and Innovation at the Local Government Association. “The Design in the Public Sector programme is part of a suit of innovation activities that we run for councils.”
The Design in the Public Sector programme is a 16 week intensive programme of support for local authorities who are seeking to address a service challenge. This year teams will focus on applying design process and methods to tackle a public health challenge.
