Video: The Design Council Spark Experience – “Got a good idea? Go for it!”
In our new video we find out from some of our 2017 finalists and mentors why Spark is one of the UK’s leading product innovation programmes.
“In an increasing competitive world, a programme like Spark add a lot of value through design”
says David Townsend, Design Advisor for Design Council.
Design Council Spark: The Home Innovation Challenge is a support and funding programme designed to turn bright ideas into commercially successful products. Design Council Spark, is where we select, support and fund innovators to bring game-changing and desirable products to the market, making day-to-day life at home a better experience for all. This year we are looking for bright ideas for independent living, that will make life at home easier and better for all, making our homes work for us, not against us.
Each Design Council Spark finalist receives an initial £15,000 investment to help develop a product idea and joins a 16-week programme of specialists-led workshops in business, IP, investment, and marketing. At the end of the programme finalists receive an exclusive opportunity to pitch for a share of up to £150,000 of further funding to fast-track the product to market.
“The biggest benefit of the Spark programme would be the motivation, the encouragement and the drive that the mentors have given me, they have set me goals to keep me on track” says Spark 2017 finalist Geoff Rolandsen of Workey.
Applications for the Design Council Spark: The Home Innovation Challenge are now open, the deadline is 3pm on 12 April 2019.
