Impact Report: Chapter 4

Design Council is a leading voice in the built environment sector. For decades we have delivered independent, expert design consultation helping to drive up the quality of design of our homes, neighbourhoods and infrastructure. In addition to our in-house team, we draw on our specialist network of 450 built environment experts to help create more sustainable, equitable developments in the UK and beyond.

This final chapter of our Making life better by design series explores our vast portfolio of work to prioritise design throughout the building process, from developing the skills of built environment professionals through to public engagement exercises.

Case Study: Reimaging Amble

When the fishing port of Amble lost one of its major employers, we worked with the local community to repurpose its existing resources so the area could still thrive. By keeping more of their daily catch in the town itself, residents were able to reinvent Amble as a major tourist destination for discerning seafood lovers, creating a wealth of new jobs and opportunities.  Find out more here.
