The value of public spaces

The value of public spaces

8 January 2014

Public space is a vital part of everyday urban life.

The streets we pass through on the way to school or work, the places where children play, the local parks in which we enjoy sports, walk the dog and sit at lunchtime comprise the most essential part of our surroundings. In other words, public space is our open-air living room. It is our outdoor leisure centre.

This report shows how cities in the UK and around the world have received far-reaching economic, health and social benefits from making the best of their public spaces.
