Mihyun Kim

Mihyun Kim is an interdisciplinary spatial design researcher and studied Space Syntax at the UCL Bartlett School of Architecture. Her focus is on how the shapes of spaces reflect modern society and public life. Her career trajectory includes roles such as a Researcher at the Architecture and Urban National Research Institute and an Adjunct Professor in South Korea, where she made significant contributions to urban and architectural disciplines.

Currently, Mihyun is a Research Officer in Spatial Data Science at Loughborough University. Here, she applies her expertise in evidence-based and human-focused spatial design analysis to develop digital urban data platforms. This work supports advanced urban and architectural planning and policymaking. Her experience with heritages, SMEs, museums, and libraries enhances her design research capacity, offering additional insights across social, cultural, and economic sectors.

Since 2021, Mihyun has served as a Specialist for the Design Council, endorsed by the Royal Academy of Engineering in 2019. She advises on interdisciplinary design, engineering, and spatial research, focusing on sustainable and user-centred solutions. In her role at the Design Council, she aims to impact design communities by promoting optimal practices that enhance usability and functionality in the interdisciplinary built environment.
