Nigel Wakefield
Nigel is the founder of Node, an urban design, landscape, and heritage practice, and has over thirty years' experience. Nigel is also a qualified and experienced urban designer, planner, and landscape architect. Nigel has experience in large-scale urban design, masterplanning, and landscape projects in the UK, Europe, the Middle East, and China. His experience includes the design of new settlements, city center regeneration, major urban extensions, and smaller sites. He also has experience in the preparation of public realm strategies, design of public spaces, and design codes. Nigel has participated in design review sessions in the Midlands and with the Design Council. He has also provided expert advice to URBACT’s European ‘support for cities’ program. Node was recently awarded Urban Design Practice of the Year by the UDG for its Knowledge Hub Masterplan adjacent to HS2 in Birmingham. Nigel was also selected for Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses programme. This has helped Node grow, become a carbon-neutral business, and address issues around biophilic and climate-resilient design.
