Nwakaego Onyenokporo
Nwakaego is an architect, sustainability consultant, and researcher with vast experience within academia and industry. She is currently a Net-Zero Research Associate at the University of Huddersfield, UK, engaged in a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) between the university and an off-site construction company, Actiform Ltd. Her work focuses on embedding new processes and technologies within the company to achieve net-zero in design and practice.
Nwakaego also worked at De Montfort University, Leicester, as an Associate Lecturer and a Researcher. With a BSc in Architecture and an MSc in Architecture and Sustainability, she was also awarded a High Flyer Research Scholarship by De Montfort University, Leicester, where she obtained a PhD in Sustainable Building Materials with a thesis entitled 'Exploring Rice Husk Ash as a Supplementary Cementitious Material and its Impact on Building Energy Performance'. It encourages the use of innovative and sustainable construction materials to reduce the negative impact of the building industry on the environment.
Nwakaego is an Associate member of the Chartered Institute of Architectural Technology (CIAT) and a member of the Green Building Council of Nigeria (GBCN). She was also awarded an Associate Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy (AFHEA). Nwakaego has numerous publications related to sustainability within the built environment and has participated in presentations and conferences related to her research work.
