Paul Dodd
Paul Dodd is an urban designer and Chartered Landscape Architect with over 25 years' experience in private practice and local government, preparing design-driven masterplans, strategic planning studies, neighbourhood plans, development briefs, design codes, guidance, and planning applications. He is an accomplished public space designer and has prepared public realm strategies for several UK cities. He has led the design of public realm projects, including streetscape design schemes, civic spaces, and public parks.
Paul is an experienced design advocate and is currently co-chair of Lambeth’s design review panel (DRP), deputy chair of Lewisham’s DRP, and a panellist for Hertfordshire County Council’s DRP. Paul is an active Design Council Expert, chairing the Network Rail Design Advice Panel, and has recently written insights and undertaken peer review of the evaluation report for the Design Council’s Design Code Pathfinders Support Programme for DLUHC.
Paul established Outdesign, an independent urban design consultancy, in 2011. In addition to consultancy work, Paul leads the design advice programme at Urban Design London – providing design advice and review, and curating and chairing national training events that equip planning, design, and engineering officers with the skills to identify and deliver best practices.
Paul has contributed to best practice guidance, including: Start with the Park (CABE), Slow Streets Source Book, and Designing Rain Gardens: A Practical Guide.
