Rosemary Carmichael
Rosie has proven experience in landscape, ecology, natural resource management and the safeguarding of the historic environment. Working in local government she ensures that approved development delivers biodiversity and landscape enhancements. She has co-designed the landscaping and habitat management required as part of large-scale developments (wind farms, gas pipelines and major roads schemes).
Rosie has developed and successfully implemented working methods designed to avoid adverse impact on biodiversity such as hedgerow translocation and soft felling methods for trees affected by Ash Dieback in sensitive habitats. Managing a multi-disciplinary team with responsibilities which include ecology, landscape, and arboriculture, she has managed projects which deliver enhancements required of and funded by development, including an RTPI award winning project to conserve the marshy grassland habitat that supports the Marsh Fritillary butterfly associated with a Special Area of Conservation.
Rosie has extensive experience of partnership working, facilitating meetings and delivery of training to a variety of audiences, which included professional colleagues, landowners and MSc students. Rosie has a degree in Natural Science from Cambridge University and MSc in Forestry and Natural Resource Management from Edinburgh University. She is a qualified Forest School leader.
