Yasmin Shariff

Yasmin Shariff is a registered architect with specialist knowledge of heritage and sustainable inclusive design. She works with large stakeholder teams delivering projects in the public and private sectors, including schools, racecourses, and community projects.

Yasmin has contributed to design review panels for over a decade and has experience evaluating and judging architectural projects on behalf of the RIBA, the World Architectural Festival, the Arts Council, and other public bodies. She has submitted her own projects for recognition and received a Civic Trust award, an Arts Council East Spirit of Innovation Award, the Malcolm Dean Award for heritage buildings, and more recently, the Hertfordshire Futures Prize for sustainable construction.

Yasmin has worked on many sensitive and high-profile heritage buildings, including Robert Adam’s first London house, the Listed Buildings at Ascot Racecourse, and a new sculptural installation in Trafalgar Square at Canada House.

Yasmin led a large EU-funded research project on sustainable design involving over seven universities/public bodies in Europe and the UK, showcasing best practice. She has initiated many projects to promote environmental and social justice. The innovative work experience module she set up at the University of Westminster is highly regarded, and AA-XX, a project celebrating women architects trained at the Architectural Association, made many breakthroughs in the representation of women, including Wikipedia.
