Design shapes the world around us. We have a bold ambition to upskill one million UK designers and commissioners with the skills needed to shape a regenerative, resilient and inclusive world for all, so that design can have a positive impact on the planet and its people.
We can’t achieve this alone: we need to ignite a movement.
What are the green design skills?
We have created a Skills for Planet Blueprint to map out the critical green skills that all designers need to be able to put green design into practice, providing a shared language that will make cross-sector conversations and skills-building possible.
Since launching the Blueprint, people from across the design community have been creating practical resources to help embed green design skills in practice. Follow in the footsteps of our partners and start embedding the Blueprint for yourself.

Our impact.
Together with our partners, we have engaged and upskilled thousands of designers so far. This includes vital awareness-building activity, as well as deeper opportunities to develop and integrate Skills for Planet into day-to-day design and design commissioning. It also includes influencing design educators and businesses, policymakers and wider design structures, networks and systems to create the conditions needed for the design sector to access these critical green skills. We measure impact across all of these activities.
